it time to heal.
I had my left thumb almost gone on the driving belts of a Ford F150 (Windsor engine), not a sever ats your injury but the pain was unbearable.
Trying to adjust the timing the wrench slipped off the distributor when tightening the bolt which is very shallow and the belts caught my thumb, no broken bones but the finger looked like ground meat and had to have skin graph and lost sensitivity to 1/2 the thumb. One thing I recommend is ice packs and keep the hand elevated about the heart, not sure if the Dr. told you this, but it helps with the constant throbbing pain.
